My Home

All my life, everyone kept telling me that my home is one of the richest countries in the world when it comes to natural resources. But all my life, and I have been alive for a while, I have never seen its people living a good life. They have always struggled to afford the cost of living and find a good job.

Universities close every few months, teachers get paid the bare minimum, and smart, skilled people flee the country to build a good life for themselves and their families. And the circle goes on and on. Even after the people had spoken and the government was changed, when everyone had the hope that they would finally start to build the country and have a good life, nothing worked right.

Our people are building other countries, helping develop the sciences, and achieving greatness elsewhere, and our country is dying. Why can’t we all reach an agreement? People don’t want much, they want to be able to live a good life in a good place without the need to fear for their lives, but it seems that this is too much to ask for, apparently. My heart aches for my family and everyone still in the country going through the situation now. And if you ask any of them, all they will say is can we please be left alone to live in peace? But wait, sadly, that describes many Arab countries at the moment, and unless you know me personally, you won’t know which country I’m talking about.
