Do you know the expression “like a fish out of water”? That is exactly how I feel every time I leave Abu Dhabi. Here is the thing, aside from the fact that I was born in this amazing city, once you live here for a few years, it becomes in your blood, and you cannot leave.

I have been to different places around the world, but I have only been able to be away for five days, until the end of last year when I was doing a job somewhere else and had to be there for three weeks. I had physically started itching, just counting the minutes to get back. You will laugh at me, but the day I was meant to fly back, I did not sleep all night till I got on the plane the next morning at 10 am.

The city is beautiful; it is breathtaking. The people are kind, helpful, respectful, generous to a fault, and welcoming in a way that cannot be found elsewhere. And you always feel safe no matter which side of the county you are at or what time it is. I remember I had a sports car a few years back and had a meeting in Dubai that I was running late for; when I got there, I forgot to switch off the car and left the key in the car. I got back an hour and a half later and laughed at my stupidity, but I was amazed that the car was still there, as I promise you this does not happen in most of the world!!!

No words can describe how I feel about this gorgeous place, and I can not imagine my life outside of it. I would honestly say I love this city with all my heart and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, no matter what. That is all I’m saying.
